Personally I think it's worth it. It's nice to have the comfort mode when the road is bad. I drive occationally on gravel due to my hobby to get to a model air field. I have mine on sport almost all the time on asphalt though.

btw I noticed some shh-sound when I drive over a speed bump. Sound like pressure getting out. I can only hear it with the windows down. It sounds rather cool and supposed to be normal according to the dealers.

I mostly use 'Comfort' as our roads in London jiggle you to distruction. Though in this mode the damping does not seem as effective as in 'Normal' and the car can crash a bit on certain types of potholes.

Very seldom do I use 'Normal' and only when I have a lot of bends to negotiate. 'Normal' has better damping than 'Comfort', but the car tends to jiggle a bit too much for my liking.

I have used 'Sport' just once and it reminded me of my Honda Type R GT.

Do I like ACC and find it useful?  A resounding yes as I like the 'Comfort' mode very much.

Maybe it's only me but the Type R I've tried felt a lot stiffer then my GTI in sport. Type R was too stiff even for me. My last BMW with M-sport suspension was also a lot harder. A friend of mine actually said how "comfortable" it was on my BMW. He drives a Type R.

Haha. I think that's a pretty accurate description.

I like the steering more on sport btw. On comfort it's too easy to turn the wheel but I guess thats the point of comfort and it is very nice on city driving.

It's a pity that there is no aftermarket option for ACC because I would certainly get this done now if I could.  For the bomb blasted roads of Manchester a comfort option would be definitely preferable.  On standard set up I wince as I go over any pot hole because I just know that the suspension will set yet another rattle, squeak or creak off and running!

Its a fact-hard suspension=interior noise.
