Yeah i get that... what i was asking is, should there be a substantial delay?
if you put your foot right to the floor, you engage kickdown mode, where it drops a gear and revs high. check the manual, its a "feature".
I'll explain a little more....
The gearbox has two driveshafts and one driveshaft contains 1st, 3rd and 5th gear the other driveshaft holds 2nd, 4th and 6th.
If you are in say 4th gear, the DSG automatically pre-selects either 3rd gear or 5th gear on the other gearset depending on how you are driving at the time (fuzzy logic FTW!). If the DSG thinks you need 5th gear, then this is pre-selected, so when you mash your foot to the floor the DSG not only has to deselect 5th gear, but also has to decide whether you need 3rd or 2nd. If you need 2nd then it has to disengage the clutch on the gearset you are running in (4th) and swap down to 2nd gear, which is on the same clutch and gearset and then re-engage drive........so it takes longer

In reality this should only take around 0.6 of a second, but just feels longer.
