GT TDI 150 General buying advice

I'm considering getting a MK4 TDI 150. I drove a mates 130 and was pleasantly surprised by how quick it was for a diesel so I'm guessing the 150 is gonna be noticeably better. I was planning to buy some kind of performance car anyway but thinking the 150 would be a good balance between power and MPG.

What am I realistically looking at paying for a tdi 150 with full leather and all mod cons in good nick and sub 90k? Iv seen a few that are 4 grand or more which seems a heck of a lot to pay for an 9 year old car with 90 to 100k on the clock. Kinda loath to pay so much.....

What the servicing and general running costs like on one of these? Can it be serviced by any local independent garage or does it require specialists?
Costly to maintain?

Do a search on here mate, loads of advise. You might read that the 130 is the best all round tho! 

Over 4k for a good cond 150 with leather, climate control etc with less than 90k sounds about right tbh despite being 9yrs old, its what people are willing to pay thay give it its value.... Quick car with super MPG

Running costs daily are great. Most servicing you can DIY if your ok with a spanner.

Expensive things to go wrong - again do a search but mostsly clutch & flywheel.

They cost that much because they will go on for another 100k easily if not another 100k after that  if serviced on a regular basis just think 4-5 years ago a 52 plate pd150 would have cost you closer to 10-12 k which is what i paid for mine  4 k isn't much for a quality car

I read on here that it costs £900 to get a clutch done, surly it can be done cheaper than that? Also if I were to get it remapped to 190BHP would it still be a reliable car as Id be sorely tempted to it yet still need the car to be 100% and last me a few years without a lot of expensive things going wrong. When remapping I take it there are thing you can do to pre-empt anything major going wrong as a result?

£800 seems to be the going rate for a sachs kit fitted.

I had mine remapped and its never once missed a beat, not even a fault code. I just made sure it mechanically sound all round before mapping. In fact, in the near past year the only time its been off the road was when a bump smashed a hole in the sump. Its been the most reliable car I have owned. I sold my impreza when my son was born and went for the 130 for performance, reliablity, comfort, nice looks and mpg

I paid £500 for a fitted sachs kit at a mates garage but a local garage to me wanted 1k

Ah yours must be a standard clutch. The Sachs race clutch is really quite heavy.
