my 1.8t UPDATE GOOD AND BAD
« on: 15 August 2010, 15:23 »
right well i thought it was about time i made myself a progress thread, ive owned the car for over a month now it hasnt been a fun month though, shortly after buying it the gearbox, clutch, starter motor and one of the driveshafts all decided to go, so after alot of money i can finally enjoy the car :L so when buying a car and it has full service history and fresh mot its not as great as it sounds :L

i brought the car relativly standard, all that was done when i brought it was the previous owner had sprayed the rear vw badge debaged the rest of the badges on the back, put a debaged grill and sprayed(really badly i may ad) the alloys although im still unsure on what alloys they are i think they are audi alloys.

this is her when i got her

as ive been busy and only owned the car a short while i have only done subtle things so far, i sourced myself a front lupo gti badge as i thought it looked quite nice

apart from that all ive done is fit my sound system and being my first turbo ive fitted an airfilter just so i can here that noice :P i will upload pictures of them soon

heres a couple of pictures after i gave her a long clean

i have a few little things up my sleeve in the near future

yup but to top it off when the drive shaft went it hit the gearbox which has lost me 3rd gear meaning im gunna have to get another gearbox again :( lol so much for german reliability :L

yeah i like the wheels but they are in desperate need of a refurb, ive brought some coilies off of Darkgti on here but im still yet to recieve them, hes had some complications so hopefully il hear from him soon as it needs lowering, got my eyes on some xenon lights atm getting pressed plates this week, and am looking into an r32 bumper as we speak

think im going to get it looking smart before i start playing with the engine

i belive the alloys are rs4 alloys bud and they do look nice in black :) loos like anice car, like the luop gti front badge, dont usually like badgeless grills on mk4's but that sets it off quite nice IMO.

unlucky on all that going wrong tho bit of a bummer, at least u have a new clutch so u wont habe to worry too much if you get a remap :)

The Clio didn't as it's naturally aspirated and French

few updates, still no pictures yet as im waiting till everything arives :P

1. i got bored of waiting for DarkGti to get back to me on my coilovers i brought from him, sounded like a decent bloke with decent exuses but nope hes took the piss and im just gunna name and shame now you can keep my money i went and brought some more :P lol so cars currently lower as its on coilovers but just a small amount atm till i can get a new arb etc

2. rear windows have been tinted, sort of a on the spot bored decision but i sorta like them

3. had the rear vw badge outlined in red to try break the black up just need to get around to spreading the red around the car now

4. i finally got remapped by r-tech they came down to me and for a day it was very fun, but after that 1 day problems started, where i go too excited i snapped my gearbox mount(think they must have been loose or badly worn) and one side of it decided to fly up and put a nice whole in my down pipe and where the engine moved it also badly crushed it abit :L soo had a new gearbox mount fitted and took it as an excuse to order a turbo back miltek system :D should arive this week and im very excited

5. i brought a 4bar fuel preasure regulater havent a clue what this does but heard good things about it

6. am in talks with a member about a forge actuator as R-tech told me mine was worn and i would see more tourqe/power with a new actuator

the cars getting there slowly am still onthe look out for an r32 front in black and the remainder in anniversar kit and also i think im going to go down the bbs lm route but when all the parts are fitted to my car im going to take a trip to r-tech this time, maybe add a front mount inbetween now and then and get another map

soo after a new clutch/flywheel, gearbox, 3 starter motors, driveshafts and gearbox mount and exhaust the cars becoming fun again lol pictures to follow when the miltek is fitted :)
