Underseat subwoofer

Anyone fitted one of these? I would like just a bit more oomph/bass response, but don't want anything visible...

Stick a sub and amp in the boot so you cant see it? Difference in oomph/bass is night and day. You dont need anything big to make a huge difference.

I don't really want to put it in the boot, as I already have VW's space-gobbling compartment divider accessory thing (false floor).

Is there a sticky on here somewhere that tells you how to wire a subwoofer into VW headunits? I have the RNS510.

Theres prob a how too on the car audio section.
You can get or make a sub box to fit in the left hand side of the boot were the warning triangle etc sits.

Heres a custom one that takes up only that space and no more.

This is Hurdys boot build from the MK5 section:

Scroll right down to the bottom of his thread.

Went from this:

To this:

This is my boot and to be honest, I still have plent of room and they are SO simple to take out (the other week I had to take myself and 4 other people on a wee road trip so the car was rammed so I just took them out for more space). Really isnt that much of an inconvenience.

Hi Froggy.
Yes I agree with you that the sound system whether Dynaudio or Standard needs a sub bass unit as there is a resonance in the upper bass due to the door cavity. I took my car to Auto Audio in Park Royal, London today. They identified this as the problem and will be installing a sub bass unit in the passanger footwell once this unit is in stock. They won't even have to remove the RNS. When this is installed, the bass tone control on the door speakers can be wound down, thereby allowing them to produce a cleaner upper bass and midrange. They also felt the standard system was powerful enough. I agree. Total cost £350. Well worth it!

Wow, those custom jobs look superb. I don't think I have the skills or the time to do as good a job as that, but I might give it a go over the winter, so thanks for the links
