From my experience meths/ petrol/ lighter fluid aren't good enough solvents to make the job easy. Best stuff I've ever invested in is a 2 squid can of 'stick stuff remover' from halfords!! It makes getting adhesive from tints, stickers and badges of super easy!! I used it on the golf a few days ago, had to do perhaps 3-4 sprays because there was thick amounts of adhesive left on, and it just rubbed off, the very last bit was being stubborn so I used a hairdryer to heat it up a bit, then sprayed on the remover and off it wiped
