Keep the 8v or go for a VR6
« on: 11 August 2010, 09:29 »
I'm on my second mk3 8v and I'll be honest I'm hooked.

Easy question.

Should I keep my 8v currently on 175,000 or go for a vr6?

Or 16v?

Basically what next.

If new car would I get a descent quality vr6 for £2,000?

cheers boys.

Could definatly pick up a nice VR6 for £2000, it's just a case of weather you wanna fork out abit more for insurance and running costs? the sound alone of the VR6 makes me want one

Long term I'm thinking r32 or even r36.

So my 8v isn't an ideal start being cable clutch. 16v's hydro clutch isn't it?

I'm 27 with 10years no claims so insurance shouldn't be too much more.

Seen a nice vr for £2,400. Bodies in good nick, new 17's with tires, White, 144,000 but as long as I get 2-3years before I look at conversion.

you could put a 1.8t in it for less than £2000 if you look around for the parts and dont spent half your budget on QPEng stuff :)
Thats what I'm doing with my 8v
20vt conversion, sig pic coming soon!

I wouldn't be able to do the work myself so it would go off to storm to be done.

It's about 2grand cheaper to do it on a hydro than cable so 16v or vr rather than 8v.

The engine on mine is starting to become quite noisy.

What's the difference between highline and non highline?

Wayne you mean convert mine into what?

Stick a VR in to it, easy enough to do.
