This looks like a good idea.

One thing I will mention though.... I had problems with PAS belt slipping in the wet. I had it replaced and tensioned properly and it's not been a problem since at all.

+1 work for me as well, if it needed a guard then why did Vw or indeed other car companies not fit them

VW did fit a guard as standard, although not a very good one by all accounts. The problem seems to be that in the intervening years most have either fallen off or been left off after servicing. They are still available but they are Main Stealers only and are about £30, which some folk consider a bit steep for a bit of old (or even new) plastic.

+1 here aswell, if you start dispatching a few give me a shout as i work for UPS and will get you a better rate than most on next day delivery.

Sorry, bit slow on the uptake on this one. Thanks for that offer, could be handy. We'll see how things pan out.

Right, just another little update. Prototype guard is still clocking miles and seems to be surviving OK. Currently designing tooling and researching the best grade of aluminium to use for the production guards. Been on to the Aluminium Federation today and they've given me a few pointers.

Another quick update on progress. Bit of bad news this time, the prototype guard's attachment bracket has suffered a fatigue failure. Good news is the guard itself is fine, I've pretty much identified why the bracket failed and am well on the way to designing and making a new one. Stay tuned!
