If you can't afford to declare mods then don't mod it. The insurance company won't check the car but if you have an accident then your insurance would be void and then you're in sh*t creek. I prey I don't get hit by an uninsured driver....not because of my car but I would not be able to hold myself back

What the hell are you driving ??  Last year I had a Mark 4 2ltr GTI on a w plate with nil no claims for 996 fully comp. This year with one years ncb I have the w plate and an n plate 2 ltr GTI for 1038 fully comp !!!  You need to shop around Mate and try Brentacre as they allow mods that don't increase bhp for no extra cost.

2 Options spring to mind Mate....Admiral Multicar where both cars are insured for both drivers and both drivers earn ncb or insure yourself on the gti for a year and get a years ncb and insure the gf on the tdi !!!! 6k insurance is crazy and I personally would do whatever to get the years bonus and then insure the tdi properly. No good not declaring as if you have an accident you lose everything.

Worth remembering that insurance companies now scan forums etc.

there's a certain company that doesn't increase prices for mods if it doesn't increase the bhp.
friend had a polo gti, didn't insure his springs, broke his arm and severe whiplash, had to fork out £2k to pay for the other car even though he didn't cause the crash, somehow, so it goes to show, insure every little mod you have.
