Halfords replacement bulbs?
« on: 10 August 2010, 14:28 »
I was thinking of changing my dipped, side and main lights to halfords 'brilliant blue' bulbs to make them less yellow...

With halfords reputation considered - I can't help but think they might look chavvy and noticeably blue.

I just want them to be white really, and I want them to be quite dim unless I've got my high beams on.

Has anyone tried these lights?

If so.. what do you think?

Find someone with a trade card, or wait until autumn as they will come on to a BOGOF promotion, like every year.

Then get the Super Brilliance ones. The blues make no difference, and the yellow is likely to be lense diffusion mixed with dirt over time.

Either that, or get some new lenses.

New lenses eh?

I'll get a picture of my headlights with my newly sprayed grill up in a bit.

I have had halfords bulbs in before.  the blue ones light up white.. the blue is there ti help get rid of the yellow.  they are over priced, you can get something similar on the bay for half that for two bulbs!

Sounds good.

I don't want blue bulbs so it sounds like it's a good plan.

I'll check the bay for fleas.

iv had the Super Brilliance ones and they were pants, no better than any normal bulb and they dont last long at all, i was forever changing one or other side which eventually got annoying and very expensive... one of the reasons i got HID

Well... I was looking at getting some 6K HIDs - But I wasn't sure if it would let me change the side lights, dipped lights AND the main beam.

As I said ^^^ up there... I only really want it to be bright when the main beam is on.

What kit would you recommend?

i got a 6k kit, and they only work on dipped beam, main beam is a seperate bulb and iv just got standard ring ones in their, same for the side lights
