new battery and old radiator...

so my car definately needs a new battery and i think it needs a new radiator but am not 100% sure. 
so heres the deal. if i buy a new battery and run it on my old radiator until i can afford a new one will it damage the battery as far as how well the battery functions?
for example if i buy a new battery and just put it in without replacing my radiator will it be okay to drive around without ruining the battery?

also does anyone know where i can get a quality battery? how do i know what kind of battery to get for my mk2? that and what "brand" should i get?
i have an 1992 golf gl (gti) 8v.

 i dont see  your radiator affecting your battery? 

do you mean regulator on the alternator? test the alternator output by putting a multimeter across the battery terminals.
set meter to read 20v dc, with engine running at idle the reading should be steady above 14v

Get a Bosch Silver from ECP for £30.
Radiator is about £35 from ECP.

I am going to (like the rest) assume you mean regulator.

Running a old regulator would just result in your battery discharging (if that was the problem) so buying a new battery would just be pointless until you swapped the regulator for a new one.


If you are correct in your spelling and are linking the radiator to the battery. They do not interact so changing one independent of the other will have nil effect.
