Hi Guy's,

As you can tell i'm new to the forum and have found it really useful but I have a couple questions which I can't find an answer for.

1. Front Storage Compartment - The lid which covers the cigarette lighter where you can put coins etc. I can't find them anywhere - any advice?

2. Front Armrest - Mine doesn't have one and VW want to charge £200+ for it which seems mega expensive - can I pick one up cheaper elsewhere?

3. The Plastic bit on that goes round the radio and aircon controls - Someone posted pics of theirs with a a graphite look but the link to where they bought it from was closed. Where could I pick one up?

have a look on ebay or look at these guys;

http://www.tmtuning.com/vw/

http://www.tmtuning.com/HOME/catalog/product_detail.php?default_product=1773

despite the prices being in USD, they are in Germany, so no problems with VAT and import duties.

unfortunately the £200 for a VW arm rest is the going rate, even on ebay. VW dealers, even on ebay, are pretty much the only suppliers. The other option might be a non VW product, called the armster

Great site - thanks for that. easy to get carried away with.

I'd love the armrest but just can't really justify the price -

Another question for you - what about changing the mk5 cloth for leather - do you know of any good companies that do it with the same leather from VW factory?

I only ended up with the cloth because i couldn't find a leather with DSG in my price range.

Don't bother with VW leather - it's crap. They've reserved the better stuff for Audi now. Get quotes from interior companies. MJ interiors and plush automotive are recommended but not cheap!

Armrest - either breakers or VW.

The front storage bin - you only get a lid if it's the non smoking pack otherwise you get an ashtray. You can get lids off ebay/breakers.

The fascia surround can be wrapped in carbon fibre etc.

I got my centre console fascia from TM Tuning, good company to deal with and the delivery was quicker than I expected :afro:

You can also sand down the original and spray it if any of the OEM options aren't for you.
Not low enough mk5
Not on the road enough mk3
