Hi bmwfan

I would be better if you could provide an idea of the spec you're thinking of going for and I'm sure people will provide their comments and recommendations for helping you spec the best options for your money.

With regard to the cost of the xenons and monza's its probably best you have a nose on the VW website and do the car build spec thing which will provide you with all the options and prices etc.

My personal advise would be to look for a VW X demo/showroom model where the car is off the shelf with a great spec. This would save you a few pennies and a long waiting time on a new one. I paid £27.5K from for mine from memory (spec as per sig below) and I think when I priced it up on the VW website it came nearer £34K.

Some helpful dealer advice:

No xenons are not standard on any golf except the golf r

Yes the 18 inch Monza shadows are the only factory fit upgrade wheel option but you can get more from the accessory guide however will work out alot more, best advice is order with monza shadows as they are very much sellable afterwards.

He is a BMW fan and probably thinks the VW site is as useless as the BMW one. It's not, I can assure him.

I think xenons are around £1100. They are well worth it though. The adaptive lighting is a great addition.

When you start the car the lights turn on, dip down, go side to side then raise up again. This alone is worth the money!
I love my GTD

Can't believe they're that much! I was at an Audi dealer the other day and he said they're only £575 on the A3

I don't remember that...sounds about right for adaptive xenons over non-adaptive on an A3 already with xenons.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....

The impression I got was that was for the whole shooting match  :undecided:  Usefully of course you can't actually spec xenons on the Audi website - a marketing ploy to get you to go down to the showroom......which isn't all bad as their showrooms are rather nice    Local one has a couple of black R8 convertibles
