« on: 07 August 2010, 20:05 »

Is this repairable through welding? noticed it for the first time the other day, its on the passenger side front just behind the jacking point as you can see.

Starting to worry.

Should be repairable but will not be cheap or easy to sort.

Is this the floor pan?

If it is then I looked for ages for replacement panels with no success, then I happened across these. HTH

It looks like it is holed right up to the sill.

If I were you, I'd remove the plastic sill cover and give it a hard poke with a pointed hammer or screwdriver. Sills are structural and you don't want to mess about.

Put the legwork in yourself for grinding/cutting/cleaning, then shape up the replacement panel with whatever overlap your welder recommends and you'll save some money.

Yeah, Hadrian auto panels do replacement sills for about 20.00. Doesn't need to cost the earth, as Ben says do as much prep as you can and you'll not only save money, but you'll get a warm fuzzy feeling inside knowing you did it yourself.

If i was to do the welding myself, could i use an arc welder as weve got one ? We normally use it for welding lcs pipes together.?

It doesn't really matter what method of welding you use as long as you get good penetration.
