Heater blower noise!
« on: 11 January 2005, 20:28 »
Hey guys

How do I stop my heater blower from sounding like a "pigeon" (a little squeaking noise ) when I turn it on full in the mornings

the bearing inside has gone dry with use and squeaks when you use it.

You need to drop the blower unit down from the left hand side of the car under the dash and check the bearings in it.

Try some silicone spray or WD40 in the bearing and hopefully you'll sort it out.

Is it a big job ? do need to take loads of the dash apart ?

Its one of those pain in the arse jobs really. not to sure if you can get the motor out without having to touch the heater matrix.

Drop the passenger side shelf and look what you have, you may see the unit and be able to drop the bottom section down to get in to spray it.

I'll have a butchers on my etka and see how it goes together.

ETKA is the parts catalogue disc that VW use to list and order spare parts.

If you've ever been in the dealer and ordered something he will have used it.

It has exploded diagrams and part numbers on it so is very useful to see how things come apart.

the motor just clips out once you remove the bottom shelf. there is a little clip at the back whick you'll see. you pull the wee clip down and rotate the motor clockwise/anticlockwise (cant remember) and it will drop out

10 min job at the most
