Hi all,
Does anyone know what front seats will bolt straight into a Mk6 GTD? The GTi seats obviously will but what about (for example) the Corrado or Seat Leon?
The reason I ask is the standard seats are like sitting in a van (very high relative to the floor/pedals and wrong angle) and my wife resultantly has a bad back and I get cramp in my leg if I drive the car for any long periods. Yes we have tried adjusting the seat into all positions.
Thanks
You must be very tall; if I put my seat to it's lowest position I can't see over the dash [slight exaggeration, I am 5ft 7"], but seriously, I know you say you've tried adjusting the seat, but have you taken it to its lowest position?

I find they sit high too.
Certainly higher than in the Mk5, by about 1"...and it's annoying as the Mk5 driving position is better for me.

I also find the steering wheel does not come out far enough...I'd prever to be 1" lower, 2" further back, and have the steering wheel 3" further out.
But, I'll just have to live with it...

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

^ I know exactly what you meen about the steering wheel. I have long legs and short arms so i have to sit way too high in the mk6 because the steeringwheel does not come out far enough. Odd as its only the second VW brand car ive had this problem with all the others in the past have been ok'ish.
Im still after 5 years not use to the height difference in the brake / accelerator pedal. That makes me set my seat even higher

I've got long arms and legs and a short body. Have to have the seat up quite high too. Never quite right.  Mind you, this has been so for every car I have driven or owned.

Yes I have put the seat as low as it will go. (This is actually too low to see over the dashboard satisfactorily).
Sat in a GTi today and adjusted the seat position and height to suit me. Perfect! ...................... Then I measured the seat size, height and position relative to floor, pedals and steering wheel. Exactly the same dimensions as I have the seat set to in the GTD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Conclusion = crap seat in the GTD. Now looking at Trading the GTD in for a GTi. (Fitting GTi seats in the GTD = over £1000 each from VW!)

......and I was under the innocent misconception that GTi and GTD seats were the same. Obviously not from your attentive checks. You seem to have done all the measurements with great care.

This is very important and essential information for prospective buyers of these cars.
So true to try before you buy.

Conclusion:-
GTi  - a pain in the pocket.
GTD - a pain in the posterior.

I would never have thought that the GTD seats were different to the GTI, you learn something every day  :nerd:

Apart from the cloth covering them, they are the same seat in the GTI and the GTD.
