Koni FSDs.

Anyone installed Koni FSD's on their Mk6 GTI?  I have Bilstein PS9s on my Edition 30 and while I love them, they are too harsh a ride for the family.  I was wondering if Koni FSD's for the Mk6 might be an ideal compromise giving a stock ride quality, with better handling than the OEM... Plus I'd like the car a tad lower too which  I would get by fitting Koni FSD shocks and springs...

Do Bilstein make a set of B8s for the Mk6 yet?
They were fantastic on my S3, combined with H&R springs.

For the Mk6, I can say the VW Racing lowered springs are superb.
If it were me, and I was looking to lower slightly, and improve the handling without crippling the ride, I'd be looking at VWR Springs and Bilstein B8 dampers.

I've not driven them on a Mk6 back to back, but on the S3, B8s vs FSDs, I'd pick the B8s every time.

Most of the stuff that VWR sells is excellent... they did quite a bit of work on my Ed30.  However, I am looking for something easily obtainable for where I am at the moment which is out in Saudi.  I don't want to be paying hefty postage costs and getting hassled by customs over here.  Thats why I am asking about Koni FSD's.  The Bilstein B8s should also be available here but do they affect the ride comfort as my wife will kill me if there is any hint of the harshness of the PS9s! 

The Konis are engineered to provide a stock ride experience and improved handling around corners - or so they say. I just wanted to know if anyone can vouch for that, as to whether the Konis really do what they say on the box.  To be honest, I think the standard shocks and springs are just fine, but I wanted the car a tad lower as the Mk6 looks much much better when lowered a bit.

Again, not from Mk6 experience...on my S3 the ride was firmer, but less harsh and less crashy...which in my view gave a more pleasant ride.
The B8s were not harsh, at all on my S3.
TBH, it's how it should have left the factory.

The Bilstein coilovers certainly could be described as being so, on every car I've been in with them fitted.

Is your car going to have ACC illyun?

If so then I can highly recommend the VWR Springs (aka AP springs)

Hi Steve... no unfortunately not...    its standard Middle East Spec which includes every option except Sat Nav (which I don't care about) and ACC (which is crazy IMHO).

That's a shame, I think a full H&R spring and shock kit would be my choice

From past experience, I'd look at either Eibach or H&R.
I've found the H&Rs to be slightly softer and more progressive...might be different on the Mk6 - can't say.

I'd be tempted with Bilstein dampers and H&R springs.

Again, from many years experience, I would choose springs from one of the well known spring makers, and dampers from a well known damper maker, as I've not had the success with matched kits from one maker that you'd think you would.

Do you happen to know if VWR spec their own spring rates, or are these re-branded KW's/Eibachs/other?

I was also reading your comments in another thread on ACC being underdamped in the comfort setting - is that with the VWR springs fitted? Reason I ask is I'm thinking about some H&R or VWR springs and have ACC on my car too, but want to try to avoid any 'bouncy' ride issues when riding around in normal mode.
