MK2 Golf with mk3 side repeaters
« on: 05 August 2010, 02:02 »

Was thinking of removing side repeaters from the wings of my '91 valver, I'm smoothing it out without going ott, general consensus was that this would be an MOT fail. Alternative would be to keep wiring and tape indicators on the outside for MOT but this is hardly an ideal situation.
So I'm considering putting the mk3 flush fit smoked indicators into the mk2 wing, sure this'll have been done already but can't seem to find any pics.

So, anyone seen this done or got a pic please?

Cheers in advance

I am not 100% sure on this but I believe if they are not fitted then you will not fail the mot.

I understood that, this was from a mechanic rather than an MOT tester, that if it was a '91 car there would need to be side repeaters?

Just don't want to be in a situation where either, I have to find a "friendly" MOT station of which there are few. Also if involved in an accident and someone sights no side repeaters as a factor, then comes back as no MOT, no insurance, no pay out. Or am I over dramatising this?

Not 100% sure, why not mount some small ones on the mirrors, led ones for bikes are tiny but still give out good light.

Yeah, I've considered wing mirror mounting but not bike ones, I'll have a look at them and see what like.

Would have to be like a pinhole so they didn't look wanky chavulous though :undecided:

US spec is on the front wing, not too keen on them tbh. Was looking at the wings today and think I may weld up the OEM hole and move them lower, not 100% though. Pretty sure they'll be smoked units though, so they don't stand out too much. Smoked front bumper indicators and most likely all red rears.
