would just like to highlight the point that the mk6 is ALOT more economical that the mk5. Had a mk5 dsg and could only manage 26-28mpg at best.. mk6 you can easily see 40+MPG

Well, I've been all over my car with my PTG, and I range from 130-160 microns in lots of places, obvious inside doors etc its a bit lower. Mine is white and I cant really see how you can prevent a stone chip. If crap hits your car, its gonna chip it.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

Well I have more stone chips on my motor which has done 4k than any other GTI, and ive had 5 of them over the last 6rys?? My last car (ed30) had 4 chips on the front and I did 12k miles. The mk6 has about 7 already pepered around the front end?? Auto express car red mk6 the biggest complaint they made was around stone chips but a great car to drive!! Id like you to check my motor out with your gadget Kev see what you think?

Just changed to the MK6 after 5 years in a MKV (loved it)

Just seems more of the same but better:

Better finished inside.
Seats more comfortable (both had cloth)
Nicer exhaust sound.
DSG down changes much faster, box seems more responsive.
Seems to tuck in better on fast corners when pushing on, probably the XDS working.
Rear LED lights (oh yes I added those  )
Reversing Camera (oh I added that as well!!)
No problems with the paint, looks no different from the MK5
Black inserts in the Monzas look well with the red car.

Things not so sure about..

Air vent reflections in the side windows, might look at getting black surrounds.
Miss the dipping left hand mirror, used to be standard.
Tyre pressure monitoring system used to be standard as well..
Where did the rear cargo net go.
"D" mode in DSG is more like half sport now. Liked the lazier changing of the previous one as I only used it in traffic.
Rear tinted gangsta windows.
Mk6 GTI 3dr | DSG | Tornado Red | 18" Monza 2 | LED Xenons | RNS510 | Bluetooth | Smoked LED tails | Cruise | Reversing Camera | TPMS | - now sold :(

I've never owned a VW or a Golf. The Mk6 GTi is my first VW.

The car's very good. I have no issues with the paint. Fit and finish very good. Some of the lower level internal plastics could be better. Expensive once you opt for many of the options. The engine is a peach. Very smooth and very flexible. Controlling it with the manual gearbox is an utter pleasure.

My favourite addition is ACC/DCC. It is brilliant as the car's dynamics can match one's mood so effectively.
If I may, I disagree with Ess_Three that the car tends to float in 'comfort' mode. This could be misconstrued for that 'big car feel' which it certainly has in this mode.

No rattles so far and I look forward every day to drive it. It's more or less all things to all men and women, I presume.

Oh, it's much better looking than the Mk5 by a fair margin IMO.

I can say, buy with confidence.
