Mk2 GTI 16v... Is this a good deal? HELP
« on: 10 January 2005, 09:12 »
Ok I used to own a Golf GTI mk2 8v (1986) and have decided to now get a Mk3, something slightly newer you know. but i dont want to send to much cash, wanna spend ideally between 1k to 2k. I dont mind buying a high millage Golf as i know they are well made and if serviced well should go on and on. But would like your advice on the following which i am seeing later on today.

1995   VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2.0 GTi 16V 3dr Hatchback
Dark red. Sunroof, ABS, Power steering, Alloy wheels, Anti theft system, CD Player, Years MOT, FSH, EW, 4 Brand new tyres, New Exhaust & Battery, Rescent Major Service, All receipts available, Excellent condition. 126000 miles. ?1875.

ive phoned the guy up, he is a technician for a VW dealer, its just had the cambelt changed. at 45k the cambelt went and the engine blow, went back to VW for the repair for free. the guy says this is a good point as the top end of the engine has only really done about 80k. He recons the car is in great condition and is completely standard.

Wat you recon????

Old VW's never die...they just go faster!

Sounds good to me as long as the usual shecks are made, read the vr6 buying guide at the top of this section, applies to all mk3's
