Yep. Mine's been damaged by over tightening.
Checked the white GTi around the corner and it is fine.

Saw her  this morning. She agrees that it has to be fixed and the damage is due to overtightening. Off to the bodyshop this Saturday for them to have a look and decide what has to be done. Never bloody ends.

  • Black is definitely the stealthiest colour!!
When I got my car both plates were fixed with double sided sticky tape.  I left my house on 2 occasions to head off to work only to come home and find the number plates lying in the road.

Went to the dealers and they kindly screwed them on for me but not too tightly as there is no wavyness at all, at least I can drive around knowing I am not doing so illegally

Well darling, one of has been well screwed and unfortunately it's me in this case.
Really looks bloody awful as agreed by Petra  my VW Warranty Manager.
It's so annoying. It will mean a full day or two at the bodyshop with me driving a Polo with a brown paper bag over my head. Bloody monkeys.
Pretty hacked off, to say the least.

Strange, always used double sided foam and never had any fall off even the front curved one.

I remember trying to take one off one time when the number plate had got water ingress and I had to slice it off with cutting wire as there was no way they were coming off by pulling

You've been lucky! the stickiness on mine was all gone so I don't know how they had stayed on for as long as they did to be honest.
