Seeing as he had an identical car with a golf body kit i doubt he was. Still knowing he paid more than £10k more than me left me with a warm fuzzy feeling

The S3 may share a platform, but they drive completely differently.
The S3 is numb, and harsh, next to a Golf.
Audi really need to sort their damping out.
I looked long and hard at another S3, but it just drove so badly - even with the essential magnetic ride helping out - that I couldn't live with it.
You can get some cracking deals though - I could have got an S3 Black Edition, in red, with Recaro buckets and a spec otherwise matching my GTI, for £1500 more....which is a lot of car for the cash in anyones book.
