I'm coming back....
« on: 30 July 2010, 19:46 »
Hey guys,

Well, after a long 14 months in the wilderness I am coming back to the fold!  Am looking to buy a MkV GTI....

Hopefully will be an Edition 30, but must be DSG and have a few more toys/options that my last GTI.

Can't wait and have missed my golf.....but saying that my 335d M Sport was rather special!

Any advice greatly appreciated as always, but once sorted I'll be back on here with a vengeance....

Will be booking the ECU & DSG Remap as soon as I get it too :-)

Hope your all well...speak soon

Andy

Welcome back to the fold, boys!

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

Cheers guys...looking forward to it!

Couple of initial questions:

1. Why doesn't anyone selling an Ed30 have the highline and multi function wheel??
2. Why do the wheels on some Ed30's look smaller than on others.....didn't they all have 18's?

Has anyone done a direct comparison between an Ed30 and an R32?  There seem to be lots of R32's around and some well specced, but my heart wants a Ed30 but seem to be few good R32's around too.....decisions decisions ;-)

I ran an R32 for a year. I found it great for GT work, i.e destroying miles and crossing countries but for fun the Gti i had before it was superior. The GTI is and feels so much lighter and nimble it makes having fun in town easy. The R32 with its big heavy V6 over the front wheels smoothed the ride out where the GTI can bounce over poor roads.

Now in a GTI Pirelli (same engine as ED30) i really feel i have the best all round car. Just as quick as the R32, easier to mod if you want to and better on Tax and Fuel.

Yes the 4 wheel drive haldex is nice when really pushing on or in the wet but i can live without that 99% of the time.

1. Dunno!
2. They all had 18" Pescara's, which look like BBS CH's and some people upgrade to 19" BBS CH's

Unfortunately not mate...was mint but went about 5 weeks ago.  Have been out of a work for a few months so didn't need the car and needed to release some cash.  All I can say mate, is they are truly awesome. I had mine remapped and it was 350BHP and 730Nm of Torque.  Would out drag nearly all other cars including, much to their annoyance....911's and M3's :-)

Suppose I may just have to settle with no mfsw or highline...unless I try and wait around!  We'll see....

19'' sound nice too :-)
