2e engine --- lost all compression ? Help

just bought mk3  GTI   111000 miles  no MOT
got  gatage to put new timing belt on it  --- when they did it they found the " tensioner "  had  seased up 

anyway  they sorted that out and she was running well  --- but when doing MOT  and reving her for the omissions test  she just stopped  --- no bangs or loud noises

now  they tell me there is no compression on  any cylinders  !

they say things are still moving inside

I had  put  K seal in her anyway so  the head gasket should not be the problem  and any way this would not effect ALL cylinders 

to me there must be an open valve in each cylinder 

have asked them to take the haed off  and see what they find

I need  so  ideas  from you  brain boxes out there  ---- what  can it be  ?

Sounds like the belt has slipped or broke and it has bent valves.

instant loss of compression on all 4,  can only see that been a belt been incorrectly installed and jumping meany teeth very quickly  must have managed to bend the valves

If it has bent valves they should sort it foc if it was down to the belt which it sounds like it is.

have asked them to remove the head anyway  --- so if it is the belt that has caused the problem and resulted in bent valves the garage should be responcible as they fitted the new belt

but will they admit that to me !!

I will wait to see that they say

If it has no compression then that suggests to me valves bent, not a lot more it can be to be honest.

If they fitted the belt wrong it is their fault 100%.

I had had a fair few cam belts go on me and only once have i heard anything,  usually it jams up and stops the engine dead, 9 times out of 10 when we have people with snapped belts come in they say " it just stalled and wont start again"   So it does all add up to me,  the belts not been fitted correctly by the sounds of it, and its done some serious damage to the top end.

garage f**ked up hardcore. if it went in working fine and they changed the timming belt and while revving the belt snapped then the garage is responsible, its bent valves as wayne says. the garage is responsible, as you had left the car working in there garage. so the garage will have to fix the engine no mater what, it would cost about £400 to get the head rebuild, new valves and gaskets! make sure the garage gets a head gasket kit it will consist of all the seals that are required (intake, outlet, rocker cover seal cam seal, the works) costs about £80. also replace the steamvalve seals too! as after 140k or so the engine will start to burn oil. so id advise that. hope that helps

they are taking the head off  so  we will see what that  shows

my worry is that I am not there to actually see what  is what 

/ is belt broken or off  ?

in the past they have been good with me  so hopefully they will come clean

thought I was doing the right thing getting the belt changed   

so we see
