« on: 28 July 2010, 11:36 »
I'm at a loss, like I know many must have been before! Do I turbo or supercharge my vr6, the millage is very good so I got know worry of puttin extra power in her, I'm thinkin pros of superchargin are surely less work, and more reliable?? Other than the supercharged bits what would I hav to change with the current parts? Then thers turbo, pros bein ludacrus boost and sound :) bt surely a ball ache? I kno of a company in america which claim bolt on supercharger kits with great results nd well known, thoughts please?

You will need to lower the compression plus standalone managment.

Supercharger is a good choice but both paths will be long and expensive.

I will be in the long run, getting a professionaly setup supercharger on mine  Unfortunately, which will be mentioned a few times, it's expensive. Money you spend doing this could be spent elsewhere on another car with better performance figures!

This will also get mentioned, quickest and easiest way to up the power is to follow in LLs footsteps....1.8T conversion!

With all that said i would do a lot of research before hand to find out what the best road to go down is.

SUPERCHARGER FTW!!

VRT

just gotta be patient, willing to spend your paycheck every month, persistent, motivated or just have a load of money and get it done professionally. You'll need deep pockets anyway, or spend your savings because decent standalone management isn't cheap.

If you having it done professionally, the kit alone is 2.5k to run a stage 1 (6psi), so expect to see a bill of around 3k+

Personally the money could be better spent on better engine if your after performance.
But would be nice to see & they make a great sound!

Money wise they are both gonna cost around the same (a lot!! )
The supercharger runs on pulleys off the crank so will give you instant initial power but you will also lose ponies (compared to a turbo) due to the engine doin the work. The Turbo runs on a turbine thats spun off the exhaust fumes so the power is not as instant but greater in the long run.
Like i say they are gonna cost around the same so its your preference really :undecided:

Well not anymore, just heard bad news and more bad news and my friend had a Corrado 1.8t conversion done by them and it was more bodged than mine.

Only be told bad news I guess cause people like to rant more than praise on forums :D

They did seem quite knowledgeable and had some very nice project cars there when we had a SWDubs RR day.
