really need some help...
« on: 27 July 2010, 22:32 »
was driving home from work tonight, had the ac running, as i normally do, all was well, hit traffic, and i hear what sounds like the ac compressor failing, was very loud, almost sounded like the tick over of a corsa lol, but much worse, air con was still working perfect however, when i turned the ac off, the noise stopped. got home and had a look, seems more to be coming from the tensioner area. cant really explain it too well, but it was very noticeable from inside the car, also it only happen on idle... bit baffed hope someone can help

noise doesnt seem to be coming from there though as thats right at the bottom of the engine, the noise is nearer the top, im thinking its something to do with the tensioner, as the ac kicks in fine and runs fine, will put a video up tomorrow to better explain it!

so it turns out to be the drive belt tensioner that has gone, my haynes manual makes it look like an easy job, ive got the part now and will try tomorrow to fit it. Has anyone fitted one before?

ok so the problem is that i have a rattle that is apparent only when the ac is on.
ive changed the drive belt and put a new tensioner on, still the rattle occurs.
im guessing its the ac compressor, but its not exactly cheap to just go and get a new compressor.
i need some input from others that might have had the same problem...
its a 110 model.
