Paint marks on trim
« on: 27 July 2010, 16:30 »
Not sure how its happened but I have some paint streaks on the trim around my car.

I've tried various stuff to remove it and it looks as though its gone, but after the trim dries they re-appear.

Any one got any ideas of what would remove it completely ?

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

right... not sure what you have tried but I would try the following in the following order:

APC diluted 10:1
APC neat
Tardis neat
Thinners on a cotton bud (try a very inconspicuous area first to make sure it doesn't affect the plastic)

whatever chemical you use don't try aggressive pressure on the plastic as it might mark it

If from all these chemicals on the plastic it loses its colour then you could try http://www.gtechniq.com/shop/3s-for-cars/exterior-coatings/c4-permanent-trim-restorer/

Nice one thanks, will give those suggestions a bash. I've tried the APC already and normal shampoo's and trim cleaner but nothing worked.
