Newbie - worried about the deal I got
« on: 22 July 2010, 17:03 »
Hi all, very new to this site so sorry in advance if I have posted it all wrong! and Secondly a big hello to all fellow GTi owners out there!!

I am Aman and when I test drove a Golf GTi and heard the 'pist' after lifting off the accelerator- I just had to get it!

So I put a deposit down and when i tried to act like the big man with the boys- they said that it was not a good deal

it is a 55 plate 3-DR black GTi, 36000 miles and FSH. i got it for £10445 from a VW dealer so it comes with years warranty.

It is really clean and they are going to re-ferb the alloys.

So Question I have is: should I continue with the purchase or lose the £250? I have been told because it is not leather interior or DSG gearbox, sat nav I will lose £4-5000 after a year.

I really want a GTi now and did fall for that a little bit, but I need expert advice!!!

Sorry to be a pain on my first post!!

Thanks loads, Aman

hello,

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/search/used/cars/volkswagen/golf/postcode/s71sn/radius/1500/keywords/gti/seller-type/trade_adverts/transmission/manual/maximum-mileage/up_to_40000_miles/quantity-of-doors/3/sort/priceasc/maximum-age/up_to_5_years_old

a quick search shows you're not being ripped off, well , no more than any dealer rips you off

I'm no expert but I don't think your gonna be losing 4-5 grand in a year .

Welcome to the site. :afro:

Your purchase has very low miles and a FSH, that's more important as cars get older than leather seats and satnav. I also hear that the DSG isn't great anyway, but that was a mate who had one on his Audi A3 and he didn't rate it so not anything I know about. As for losing nearly 50% in a year ! That's very, very doubtful.
......now officially dubless.
