Im not going to sing for a product that does not perform. The Revo has been perfect upto a couple of weeks ago, just after its service (coincidence??) its been acting weird from time to time.

If this is down to the map.. then I will certainly voice my concerns to revo (and will let all know on here also).

Strange that. I'm sure it will be solved especially as you have had no trouble previously.

I think one of the problems is that once people buy a map they are unlikely to get a different map. Therefore they can't make the comparison that is required.

I guess you mean likely here.......

I thought it is a parameter question only, therefore UN-likely to be different so comparable.....who knows the details here....I'd be quite interested... :nerd:

I do not see how my ABT would be better than a REVO or APR etc etc.....the big price difference (twice the amount) I translated that (so far) in warantee-matters...

why don't you try and reinstall it with your select switch and see if that solves it

I didnt actually think of that. however i did remove the map before it went in, and then put it back as I was leaving the garage. will give it another flash this evening and see how it goes and report back

You raise a good question. Ultimately the tuners are all given the same hardware with the same headroom. But its like giving different chefs the same ingredients. They will all serve it in their own way.

From what I have surmised Superchips (Bluefin included) seem to be quite conservative. Looking at their quoted figures (and the matching results from Rolling Roads) indicates they go for a lower horsepower and torque figure. IIRC then around 250-255 seems to be their ball park. Perhaps one of the reasons for this is that they want to retain the OEM drive of the car and so provide a gentle and subtle increase.

Revo seem to be inclined to give a little more torque. Although I am yet to see another Revo car match what Revo quote (FroGTI seems to be the only one). Revo quote around 275 hp and 310 lbsft torque but most I have seen (even Edition 30's) get around 268 hp and 290lbsft torque.

I have no experience or knowledge with ABT or APR and so cannot comment on either.

Personally I looked at Revo as I was drawn to their higher figures (sometimes you can't help it). But I ended up getting Graham from torque.it to do my car. He quoted my around 260-270 depending on the rolling road and about the same in torque. My car was tested with 270 hp and 289lbsft of torque which I was pleasantly surprised with. *My car was tested with Sainsbury's 97 octane Super Unleaded fuel if anyone wants to know.

Some tuners like superchips have provided a more OEM driving car whilst Revo are what I like to call "talk and torque happy". Although the same hardware, it is the delivery that differs.

And another reason I don't like Revo is that everyone I have spoken to with Revo has a flat spot they notice. Mine doesn't !

Quotations are quite useless in our case...the only way to get a good inside is a before and after check on the dyno's...

The ones I checked on the internet always started with approx. 210 and ended up with approx. 255-260 on the Dyno with Octane 98

My next question would be is it that great of an achievement to get the most horsepower...... or is it far more important to achieve the smoothest ride with the max. torque well devided......or can you do both....

Unfortunately I only know 270 is more than 260 BHP...

The main thing is that the ABT worked miracles for me .....but I have no idea about hp nor torque other than what they quote

Well I'll see if I can scan in my results later tonight. Will need to wire up the printer first (still not done it all summer  :embarassed:)

The good thing about my map is that the torque comes in just the way I like it. And it also stays there right through the rev range. Looking at my print out I've pretty much got 289lbsft torque from 2450rpm to 5000rpm. Some of the revo cars seem to hit full torque and then tail off pretty soon.

have a look at some of the cars on here. Probs best to focus on the mk5 models (GTI and Ed 30)  http://www.jkm.org.uk/performance/GalleryRollingroad.htm

That's just one set of results.

But anyway, enough of us stealing this thread... steve hurry up and get stage 2 operational!

For me the reason is simply that I have no problem with the DSG as it is.
