Wiper Q's?
« on: 19 July 2010, 18:33 »
1) Do your wipers judder and re-position themselfs everytime you start the car?

2) On intermittent wipe, do your wipers when they sweep back down, stop, then move up abit, then down abit & then a second or two later drop down again?

3) The washers seem to take ages before they actually spray water.

Its annoying and reminds me of Alfa 155,145,146, Fiat tipo, tempra wipers when the rest position has gone.

Have a look on this site and choose GTI from the model list.

http://www.ownerwelcome.com/

Then click on "windscreen wipers" Once the video plays, on the right hand side of the screen under the heading "Did you know"  it tells you about the movement. Is this what you mean?

If this is normal it does seem odd it does it all the time when on intermittent wipe after each wipe.
I can understand it doing it after the 2 second stop ie it thinks its finished.

I've heard of all this but have not observed anything at present.

So answers for now:

To Qs 1 - No
To Qs 2 - No
To Qs 3 - No

I'll check all the above once it rains!

Dry like the Sahara here and nearly as hot.
It rains in your area like mad in the summer, and you are snowed-in in the winter and which lasts forever.
Your poor car never has a real summer holiday and neither do you.
Time to move down south to London, West London preferably!

Used to live near St Albans and it was always dry and hot in the summer.  Worked for a long time in Birdcage Walk but certainly don't miss the commute in and out of town and the red hot full up train.

Into Kings X. Nice. That's where my sweatshop is. Cleaned up now. Know the Birdie cage well. Nice, buzzy and busy. Better than the p!ssing rain or the freezing never ending winter. Close to Paris too! Come back!

Far far too expensive down there now for me.  Also too busy, last time I was down that way Kings X was absolutely packed out with workers toing and froing and tourists just getting in the bloody way

Have some happy memories of lunching in St James Park or taking the underground and having a mooch around M&S at Marble Arch, it always used to have all the new lines at one time.

Sometimes we used to save up our luncheon vouchers and go and blow them in Harrods in Knightsbridge.

Happy days but long ago now
