« on: 17 July 2010, 21:50 »
I'm sure one of you bright sparks will know..... am I right in thinking Monza II shadow size is 7.5J x 18, ET51?

Defo 7.5x18, ET51 sounds about right.  Those R style wheels I bought were 8x18 and ET45 I think and they stuck out a bit.

Cheers guys

Question 2 then, Interlagos alloys (rocco ones) are these..... 8J x 18, ET41

If so using the calculator as below, they may stick out approx 16mm....... this sounds quite a bit and not sure if this will look a bit naff when I get my new wheels on?

Thanks Snoopy, is there anything I can do to reduce the amount the wheels will stick out? i.e. different tyres?

They do stick out on the Golf R too. Hence those little black lips on the wheelarches.

BTW: Parked behind a Red 'rocco at present. Monza Shadows win the day and night. No doubt.

I would probably say that those who change their wheels from the Shadows to something else do so because: (a) Want something different to personalise their car, (b) Over-familiarity with Monza Shadows breeds unfair and unnecessary contempt.

£600 is as high a price you should pay (as you did) for the 'rocco wheels IMO

now now. Thats actually a good price for those wheels. plus  its wheel that does not need re-finishing every couple of years.

Not really. Making the tyres small is just going to stretch them, you will always have the wheel width to deal with. Only way is get the offset machined but thats probably a no go with these wheels.

Answers in red.
Just trying to be protective towards the Monza Shadows. They get so much unnecessary 'stick' as most excessively beautiful and unusual objects often do.

Thanks all for the replies...

I shall still be keeping my Monza's Shadows and its more than likely they will be on the car most of the time. As I've said before I've brought the interlagos wheels for a bit of a change / winter / and to keep my Monza's as pristine as possible. I also like the look of them on the rocco's and FroGTI's car.

At £600 complete with new tyres its worth a punt and if they don't suit the GTI its likely I'll be able to sell them on easily enough. I'll post some pictures up hopefully next week once I recieve the new wheels.

p.s. as the new wheels will stick out a wee bit, I best fit some mudflaps. Does anyone know if the GTI ones in the accessories brochure are easy to fit and remove again... ?
