Wheel conundrum
« on: 17 July 2010, 20:38 »
Right guys, slight problem i'd like to pose to you all.

the hubs on a mk2 gti are 57.1mm, i have aquired a set of mini "teledials" which i love, same as these
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mini-One-15-Alloys-/200494490108?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Rims_Car_Wheels_ET&hash=item2eae6721fc#ht_500wt_1154

the only problem is there 51mm centre bore,
is there a company out there that has adaptors for this or would i be beter of knocking myself up in my workshop some hubcentric spacers with the bore's taken into account? ie. 57.1 female bore and a 51mm male bore
I will have to space these out by 10mm anyhow to keep the offset correct

thoughts?

I got my rims machined which cost me £50. you want hubcentric spacers just watch the rear discs though, you need at least 15mm to clear the flange on the disc.

I'd the the machine shop to bore your wheels out to the required 57.1 rather tahn faffing about with longer bolts/spacers etc

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.

/\

If you need to run spacers anyway I'd leave the centre bore on the wheels alone as if and when you come to sell them you will have a broader market :)

Well actually mate, its closer to 30k a year thank's, If you had actually taken the time to read my initial post, i made mention to the fact i would make my own hubcentric spacers, i wanted other people's opinion and ideas to see if someone else came up with a beter solution,

If you have nothing constructive to add to the thread please dont waste my time posting it, your time would be beter spent teaching your son how to use a ratchet a skill my FATHER showed me when i was about 6!!
