Mark 5 purchase a few questions please

Helllo to all , forum looks like a wealth of good knowledge I I look forward to reading/taking part.

I have looked at a mark 5 GT TDI 170bhp today and was wondering if you good looking chaps could answer a few questions please.

1. Has  the 170bhp TD engine a belt or chain driven timing chain ?

2. What sort of MPG should I return at a steady 80 mph ?

3. Any inherent issues I should be aware of ?

I take it the car u are looking at is a gt sport 170 tdi,if so these are good cars, i run one along with a gti & it has never missed a beat.And to your questions 1.has a timming belt 2.in the 50's 3.some people have problems with the DPF(diesel particulate filter) but mine has been ok.
