Get a GSM phone dialer, you can get them from ~£100 for when the alarm goes off theres many out there. Meens it phones you when the alarm is triggered.

Door side trims are an option from your dealer

Thats really clever.

By the way , how come you have an R32 exhaust  system with a MK 5 2.0 TDI?

That's a Mk6.
If I remember correctly they were spy shots of the new golf not long after the MK6 was released, hence the speculation that an R of some description was also being worked on.

You are right about side trims but I feel they spoil the lines of the car.

My last MK5 GT TDI had them and they were cleverly the same metallic paint as the rest of the car so less conspicous, however all the top end cars e.g. Porsche would never have them

Sigh.  I loved the black plastic side trims on the Peugeot.  Never a scratch, even when someone opened a door on me. The black was smart against the gold car, matching the window seals and the mudflaps.  Such a nice change from getting the Fiesta chipped all the time.

The side of the Golf even looks bare without them.  Except, what's the point having them painted like the car?  They'll just chip anyway.
