The car is not 'flimsy' and no the older cars are not stronger. It's to do with pedestrian safety, new crash regulations etc. If a little child walks out and you hit him/her the car won't just send him flying instead absorbing the impact making it as safe as possible. Yes I agree the price is very high for a little accident though.

I was also introduced to the fitter and sprayer who will be fixing the car. They took me to the car in the holding area and went through everything with me. I was quite impressed with this service. I was also faxed the complete repair schedule with prices today. Also, quite impressive.

Sounds like a good service. Here's hoping.
Like most on here I'm quite paranoid about my car and am very careful where I park it etc. In fact the car is due a service and I'm putting it off as I just know it will be parked in a tight car park which is something I never ever do.
So I know what you are going through with the anxiety. Its not nice at all. However your garage sounds like a good set up.

Hope Wolfgang is soon restored to his former beauty and that your enjoyment of him is not marred forever more - by let's face - it something that could happen to any one of us.
Keeping fingers and toes crossed that he is returned to you in tip top nick.
Please STOP playing with your new RNS510 in future.  There's a good boy
Gizzy

I promise I will never fiddle with that thing whilst I am on the move.
I had a really horrible weekend. First the car, then the water mains bursting 3 times right in front of my house! There was a fountain 20 foot high with one of the bursts. It kept happening 2am on Sat, Sun and Mon. Exhausted. The mud and mess is simply awful. Even the bloody dustman did not collect the refuse. What else will I have to endure, I wonder?

Once it's done avoid car parks with sodium lights at night time. It'll make you cry.

I really hope they are as good as they seem. Going nuts with the anxiety.
I am the same. Parking is a nightmare. One thing that's so good with the courtesy Polo is that I don't care too much and it is so easy to find an appropriate space. I really wonder how these massive saloons can be accommodated on our crowded streets.

Ha, ha. Know all about this and it will all be checked for swirls etc under the lights in the body shop which are really evil.

Had my bonnet resprayed recently by my local VW bodyshop - it had been attacked by an animal and had deep vertical claw marks in it that couldn't be polished out without burning through the clear coat (we believe it was a Fox). Once done it looked great under the bodyshop lights and in normal weather conditions - however the bright sunlight we've had over the last couple of weekends revealed holographic swirl marks where they've used an aggressive machine polisher on it. Not sure I trust them to sort it, it will be 4th time the car's gone to them with paint issues that needed 'polishing' out  :undecided:.

Hope it all works out OK for you, sounds like the customer service is good from what you've said.
On order. CSG Mk7 GTI. BW 46 - Now arrived.

Jeez

You are having a run of bad luck, been walking under ladders? or kicking black cats?

I am sure the car will be fine so try not to stress too much.

Take care
