MK3 Golf GTi 16v grey - Getting scrapped.
« on: 12 July 2010, 23:35 »
So, after two and a half years of being on this forum and actually owning a GL, I have now converted to a GTi, and a 16v at that. So here's the story.

I saw this car last year when Billy_vw owned it, looked quite tidy and needed a little work doing to it. However, me being Shady I never have any money, so couldn't afford to buy it from him. This year I saw it in the classified section and as I was due to get a new car, I thought I'd have it.

Pics from the ad:

I went to collect it Saturday, leaving for the train at 3pm. Arriving in Birmingham (from Yeovil) at 7:30pm. Long bloody train ride when you're billy-no-mates. I got there and had a chat with Richard looked over the car and was happy with what I saw, so made the purchase. Proceeding to drive it home that same night, not getting into Yeovil until gone 12am as I didn't leave Birmingham until just gone 9pm. This was a good drive though, allowing me to test the water with my new car, and I was very impressed.

Now some may notice the lights on the back, not my thing so guess what, they have come off, so has the Momo steering wheel so I could put on my Polo wheel. The wheels are early TT wheels I believe, but they were initially (upon purchase) sitting on some chavtastic rims, hurts your eyes in my opinion.  I have changed them back to the TT wheels now though.

Here are some pics as today has been the first say I've had to do anything to it.

How it's at right now:

The plans are to sort out some paint on particular sections, and give it a good clean using the most comprehensive methods using only my two hands, and the products I have. Subtle changes such as badges to follow soon.

Bigger changes entail the possibility of polishing the TT rims until I find some rims that will suit something, a bit more...extravagant. Oh and of course GolfGTi Forum stickers to be placed in tomorrow or Wednesday.

Vast improvement already :afro:

I like the audi rims, they suit the car. Loving the colour as well, don't see many around!

Looking forward to seeing what happens next

Cheers man,

I think your Hellas and the black or orange(?) badge would look good.

Me to chap. They do indeed suit it, I think a polished finish would go well with the grey, and as you said you don't see many around in such a colour which is another reason I wanted it.

Well couldn't let the team down now could I?
