hi all I am having a problem with my anni which is stopping me going to rtec to get a remap,
the history of the car was I brought it with a blown engine and turbo and partly stripped engine bay,
so fitted a new engine, hybrid turbo a few other bits,

the problem is it keeps going into limp mode, with code 17748 camshaft position sensor (g40/engine speed sensor (g28) incor correlation p1340-35-00
, so I though it must be camshaft sensor so tried on another car and that came up with it fault too, so replaced, (the replacement was then checked on another car and was working)

but stiill on this one it comes up with a fault, the plug was changed also to see if it was that, and i checked the wiring back to ecu and no breaks.
But I checked the feed into the camshaft sensor and it was 5 volts is this correct?

any idea's
could it be that the valve timing is out? as the engine has been stripped etc?

think its a mechanical fault as I just checked my daily agu and that getting the same readings, I also swapped over the pick up ring to see if was that but still no that faults still there, has anyone got any links to a how to check camtiming etc, but if that was out wouldnt it run rough?

yeh the ecu sends out a 5volt feed to the sensors and it switches the earths. have you done a continuity check from the connector back to the ecu? and from the connector to an earth to check if its rubbed thru anywhere? if all ok the timing could be a tooth out?

yer checked from ecu, and to earth, just looked on ross tec site, and they say timing belt or chain could be out, or faulty engine speed sensor ( so I just guess crackshaft)

but they are special notes, saying to check oil pressure as pump might be restricted,
or the wrong camshaft sensor fitted, single gap versus 4 gap, is there any different in visual look as to this?

think I try timing belt first unsure how to check chain. but I guess the camshaft pick up ring should be in the same position at tdc, as my agu, so I could copy that across and see,
or I might get a new camshaft sensor from vw then I know its 100% right for my engine,

Hopefully all sorted camtiming was a tooth out ,

I had this fault alone with a few others , I found out in the end when the engine had been done it was a tooth out ,  It ran ok but just in limp but that could of been one of the other faults I had , 17705
