side impact bars

ive been offered another door for my car as mines tatty but its got a side side impact bar, which fair enough probaly a good idea but hes offered me the other door bar aswell. the door itself has already sold, will this bar fit my existing door as i cant see the holes or would i need to change my good door aswell.  finally will door bars be ok with electric windows clearance etc any help pointers greatly received

I'm pretty sure that cars with side impact bars had holes in the side of the door where they bolt on, and these are not present on non-side impact bar models.

There are no issues with clearnace - most cars with side impact bars also have electric windows, as side impact bars were fitted to the last MK2s.

Currently I have one door with and one without as I fitted a door from a later car.

If you want them on both sides then I guess you could always drill holes in your other door.

thats what i thought about drilling the holes and adding it,  looks a simple enough job to do aswell.

Just make sure the drill holes are in exactly the right place and that you treat the bare metal that is exposed after you drill (at least primer is) to make sure it doesn't rust.
