got busy with the paint today and painted the slats and VW badge black. the finish isnt perfect and will have to be redone but it will do for now as it was just a rush job to see how it looked, so i think it will be staying.

and a few of the bbs 15's i'm currently refurbing, ongoing project that will probably still be ongoing next year

let me know what you all think

need to get motivated so i thought i'd write a list of all the bits i eventually want to do and thoughts for possibles, so in no particular order:

get the BBS wheels shot blasted and powder coated gun metal grey and get them covered in 194/45's
Yellow calipers
vr6 front splitter (maybe? bit too common, might think of something different)
early vento front, not to everyones taste but i like them
trim and roll arches, fix/fill/weld any rust
maybe de arch, de spolier, de mudflap de wiper depending on above
summer wheels, thinking something oem+ but not done before, probably go 16's
replace wheels bearings, and bottom ball joints.
replace bushes all round
replace water pump
replace power steering belt
replace exhaust, probably backbox only, something sporty but subtle.
recaro interior
black pillars roof lining
new head unit
get components properly amped
sound deaden doors and under rear bench seat

i will probably add to this list as i go along coz my mind is always changing

heres a pic of how it stands now from bugjam

please let me have your thoughts and ideas

...... right, i 4got all about this thread to be honest mainly due to losing interest in the car over winter and putting it up for sale.

But......... since the sun has come out i have found the love again and decided to keep it for a bit longer, basically because i have put a lot of money into it just to keep it on the road.

So following a trip to P B Customs i have some new plans, its still gonna be my daily, so sensible but tidy is the way i'm going ....
wash, wax etc and get rid of all the stickers and rear gti badge
black rear VW badge
6 months tax
good service to get her running spot on again
new abs sensors
Sort the rusty wings out
get rid of the arches and side skirt trims (bloody water traps)
trim and roll metal arches ready for new summer wheels, monty 2's or skoda fab vrs?
passat duckbill splitter
euro front wipers
joey and yellow main beam chambers and fogs indicators
bung in the rear wiper for now and smooth plinth
pull all parking dings out

also would like to but probably wont happen...
blowover in original colour to get it mint again.
recaro interior
early vento front
16in schmidt ml's
weld up rear wiper and de-spoiler
remove side repeaters and intall us side markers .......

lots of plans and little funds so it will be a slow process, gonna start with the essentials and the cheap and easy then move onto the bigger stuff when i have saved up some dollar. I just hope i don't lose interest again.  :undecided:

good to hear you have some enthusiasm for the old girl. monty 2's look ace on mk3's but i've never seen vrs wheels on one before - could look really cool.

Finally pulled my finger out this weekend and got my head under the bonnet.

Managed to solve the cutting out and missfire problem by giving the throttle body a good clean out.

I was going to take some pics and do a little guide but it was that simple i didnt bother in the end, i just wished i done it sooner as she now runs like a dream again.

i managed to do it withut removing the whole throttle body as well, just removed the intake pipe and got busy with a cloth and some carb cleaner on the inside, got the mrs to open up the butterfly on the tb by putting her foot on the go go pedal and got inside done as well.

next up is a new beather hose as mine is a temp bodged kinked one, 6 months tax, new abs sensors and a diy mini service, wish me luck  ..................
