I brought a brand new K'N Airfilter, months ago (cone type i think), i never used as when i got my mods and remap done, i got a pipercross panel filter fitted with my R32 airbox mod.

What to do, where can i get a decent carbon air filter from not too expensive. At first i was using a 007p but since i saw a mate with a v-reg AGU with a split-R i thought now that sounds good and when i toyed with the idea i heard not all AGU's can take it.

So i replaced my 007p with a split-r and my AGU w-2000 ran with no problems at all, i thought how lucky am i.

Anyone wants a 007p with yellow spring a brand new KN cone filter (offer me a good price) as i want to get a carbineo if its worth it.

Ill do as you lot said leave the dump valve where it is.


What do you think should i replace my r32 dsg air intake mod with a carbineo ?

First off, ditch the Split-R valve, they may sound good but they dont give best performance like the 007p.

The air has been metered and the ecu will supply the right amount of fuel to match the air. If you then change gear the split-r will dump some air into the atmosphere and the ecu will not compensate for this. This will give you more Fuel to Air = Rich Mixture

If you have the r32 intake and smoothed air box, go with a pipercross panel filter and dont bother with a carbonio intake, you have a chance of sucking up water if you run the cone filter just behind the intake on the bumper.

I know the splt-R dumps some of the air back out and push the rest back into the turbo depending how its configured.

Since ive put it on the performace seems alittle better and my baby doesnt drink fuel when driving normally only when the foot is planted.

I know everyone suggest put the oo7p back on, just seems alittle boring to the norm(my preference).

About the air intake, how can a carbonio suck up water when the air filter is in the engine bay and the hose that supplies the air is bent in 2 to 3 position to suck air from the front bumer lower vent.

If that was so wouldnt the standard pipe from the air box do the same thing, just relised i think the vent for std is near the wheel arch.

I dont see how its possible to suck water up when you have 2 to 3 bends in your air intake pipe.

Well i guess everyone on here prefers the panel filter (i do as well) and have more experience then me i just wanted to give something else a try ?

Any good carbanios out there not too expensive, would a cheap ebay do the job ?

the carbonio kits position the air filter behind the front bumper and not in the engine bay, therefore can suck up water and trust me it has happened to people before.

If you buy a decent induction kit (Simota, Carbonio, BMC etc) and fit a 007p and have a remap it sounds better than the sh!t-R. The hiss they give off is like a gay syeing! IMO anyway. Any induction kit with a carbon fibre heatshield is all good in the engine bay or a filter that sits behind the bumper are all good too. A normal cone in the engine bay is pony. Panel filters are good but with no added noise

I would get a BMC carbonio as i see they are bloody expensive, what do you reckon of this, im not sure which is really good, i need some advice

i got a special universal cone filter from halfords for £25 and fitted it with yellow cable ties as they look good and stand out . then i had a rolling road session at kwik fit and gained 12bhp from 2000rpm all the way to 8500rpm (the guy raised the rev limit with his laptop)but i had to fit a civic type r back box to allow for more revs  as he said they can rev the same a a honda type r engine .
you should see my car and rolling road proof in this months kwik fit mag .













seriously though keep your airbox and fit a panel filter as said or just spend a lot to get a good intake . i would like a carbon simota one but not at that money !!
i recently fitted an ebay cai for around £50 which sits behind bumper and as soon as i went up the road i felt an immediate power loss espec in the midrange so then went back to panel filter !

Ive got a typhoon induction kit and ive never sucked up water and ive been through a lot of big puddles.. And my car is still ok in the heat we have got at the moment with no problems to date.. I can imagine you may be able to but my typhoon came with a water proof cover thingy for the cone just like a little waterproof hat lol maybe thats why i havent if so its worth a buy
