Electric Window's Not Working!
« on: 08 July 2010, 23:19 »
Hey,

Yet another problem to sort out but in general electrics (especially car electrics) are not my thing.

When i purchased the car both front windows did not work and they still do not work.

The switches both light up when the light's are on so i am thinking the problem is not with a shorted switch (although if someone knows which pins/wires i can manually connect to check then please let me know).

If i remember correctly it is a normal 2 pin fuse and not a relay and in which case it good and working (surely the switch wouldn't light up if that was not the case?)

So i am guessing it is the motor that has seized as it makes no noise at all but i want to eliminate everything else before i either oil it up and take it apart to 'free' it up or else fork out for 2 new ones (just seem's strange that both don't work but could be due to lack of funds of the previous owner).

So there we have it... everything i can give you i think and hopefully one of you guys here has an answer as the sun is getting hotter by the day.

Thanks

Lewi

If you're buying new ones I will take the old ones off your hands. The cable has snappes in my drivers door regulator. They're around the £40 mark on eBay of your getting new ones.

Two wires
One multimeter
One 12V battery handy

TEST it switches lighting up means nothing check for continuty and last resort stick a direct 12V supply see if the motor works if not need new motors!

Both mine are now renewed, on the left side there was no noise etc, but could hear it clicking, new motor works fine, right hand side, maybe could of been fixed but for £30 new might aswell get new ones, not sure only quality  but seem ok, time will tell.
