Scratched alloys - can I fix them?
« on: 08 July 2010, 17:57 »
Hello GTIsters

Tonight I scratched my immaculate Monza shadows. (far side front wheel)  The crunch from hitting the kerb at speed was awful but the scratch marks are not shockingly bad.

Does anyone know of a way I can make them better without getting them done professionally?

cheers

Jonny

Did a rubbish job, did them a second time and did an even worse job.

Really, avoid this company. Doing a bad job is one thing but their customer service in dealing with my complaints is just horrendous.

Thats good to know mate. God I feel bad now for suggesting someone else use them.

How horrible. Can you go somewhere else to get the job done satisfactorily?
I've got to give my car into the bodyshop tomorrow to get a dented bonnet fixed. They will probably wreck the car.

Jonny, is the scratch just on the laquer finish, or is it down to the metal of the alloy ?

Reason I'm asking is that a detailer could repair this with filling the scratch with laquer and machine polishing it out for you.

If its in the metal then you'll need a more professional repair done.

No I still need to get them done somewhere else but am very unhappy with Spit and Polish. If they bothered to reply to my emails then I wouldn't resort to commenting about their poor service but they haven't really given me an option.
