Front splitter
« on: 07 July 2010, 11:57 »

Can anyone tell me if the front splitter can be removed?

I am thinking of getting it sprayed to match the anthracite part of the front bumper or even get it carbon wrapped.

Yep, did mine myself in satin black.

It's about 8 T20 screws and then the painted part unclips from the frame.

Brilliant, thanks. I can now see what you have done in your sig picture.

I might try to get it matched to the anthracite in the bumper. How would I go about getting a paint code for this?

I checked this and as it's plastic in the bumper there isn't a paint code, however a bodyshop or even someone like chips away can normally find a pretty good match.

That sounds like a plan. A friend of mine has a body shop so I might get him to get a close match for me.

Thanks for the help!

A cheaper way to do it is to get Hammerite black (the crackled texture one) It comes up smooth and gives the same metallic flake as is in the plastic lower grill.

It's a good mod to do and gets rid of the GTI's double chin in my opinion.

In fact... if painting the Golf makes it look thinner... I'm getting Hammerite for my tummy

Have you any pictures of a splitter done in this?
