Windows, Mirrors and Sunroof not working - Help!
« on: 03 July 2010, 18:49 »
Hi guys,

I did some work on the car yesterday including fitting a handsfree kit to the stereo. In the process, fuse 14 (interior lights etc) blew and was replaced and so they are now working again. However, this afternoon I've noticed that the electric windows, mirror controls and sunroof controls no longer work.

I've checked every single fuse in the fusebox and they are all fine. I've also checked the 2 15A fuses that sit on top of the relay panel. Having done lots of research, people with a similar problem also find that the remote central locking doesn't work (linked to fuse 14), but this works fine for me. I haven't got access to VAGCOM at the moment but really need this fixed - does anyone have any ideas that I could try?!

Thanks in advance!

Will

Thanks, yeah tried that but no joy. Prior to this problem I damaged the slider switch beside the sunroof control, and so took the unit out to (kinda) fix it. None of the surrounding wires appear to be damaged though, so I've run out of places to check to try and fix it!

I've re-checked all of the fuses, including a couple under the steering column, and all are OK. Does anyone have any idea what else could be causing the windows, roof and mirrors to all not be working? Could they be disabled in the can-bus for whatever reason, or maybe a particular relay is faulty?

A while ago I enabled the beep when you lock the car with the keyfob. In its current state, sometimes the car beeps and sometimes it doesn't - I guess indicating the electrics have gone weird somewhere?!

Any help or suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated...not being able to open the windows is not fun :P

EDIT: Also, I scanned with VAG-COM and it didn't return any faults at all (not even previous ones that I hadn't cleared)...could this be linked or is it just because I disconnected the battery?

Thanks,
Will

Try checking all your connections from your roof (work backwards), worth a try but take drivers door card off? It's quite a wierd fualt, its as if the connections to all of window controllers has come apart somewhere...

The beep thing with locking seems normal, as my friends does the same thing  :undecided:

Other than the lights by the sunroof which now have a dodgy connection, all other internal/door lights work fine and so does the central locking!
