Regardless if you accept £1k, if man B is willing to pay £1100 then thats what its worth, cause that what he was willing to pay. Or we now changing that whole phrase to 'Your car is only worth what you accept for it' ?

Just phoned up Audi..... Told em I wanted to buy an R8. They said sure come down and see us. Told em I'm only willing to pay £5000, and said its only worth what I'm willing to pay. How come they hung up on me ?

So, in your case, let's call VWKev Man A.. who is willing to pay £10, but then Man B comes along and offers £175,000 - and his missus gives him the nod, so he buys it.

Audi know that they'll get a better offer so they chinned you off and waited for Mr B, who now has a nice R8.
