Bodykit query for a 2005 MK5 2.0 5dr TDi DSG
« on: 20 June 2010, 09:52 »
  Hi,

Wonder if anyone can put me in the direction of getting a subtle (ie non boy racer, mean or aggressive looking) bodykit please?

I've seen a few on ebay.  My car has the rear spoiler (with brake light incorporated) so looking for a front, rear, skirts kit, know you can buy and mix the parts but need good prices (non extortionate ones) and recommendations please.
Looking for a set of 17" alloys (Ebay has some good ones) with tyres (used - must be excellent to immaculate) or brand new.
I would like a centre arm rest (mine doesnt have one but just the basic holding area - 2 cup holders etc and is open) but apart from the main dealer, best place to get one in grey, used or brand new to include the fittings please?
Car is not fitted with a centre arm rest for the rear seats, is this possible to get installed please?
Can the rear seats and  heated front driver and passenger seats be recovered in leather please?  I have cloth seats and want to take the car elsewhere rather than VW to have leather put on - dont want leather seat covers but the whole interior re done.
Best ecomomic twin exhaust pricing and source please (stainless steel)
Car is a 2005 2.0 TDi DSG 5 door (automatic 1400bhp).
Lastly where can I best get the car chipped to enhance it to a 1700bhp please?
Many thanks

1700bhp is not achievable in a skyline  I presume you mean 170? R-tech, awesome Gti, JBS do Revo, superchips bluefin for DIY.

Bodykit? Don't do it...stay oem and you will have greater resale value. Look out for R32 or ED30 parts or even the GTi bits n get em smoothed and painted. Look up SamboS car for what I'm talking about.

Car is a VW golf GT 2.0 TDi DSG (auto diesel) 2005 5 door,

Apparently it can be chipped to increase its 1400bhp to the 1700 bhp!...or have I been giving wrong info?

Many thanks

It will be 140bhp and chipped to 170bhp. Those figures you're talking about are more than a Formula 1 car !
......now officially dubless.

There are lots of bodykit options but only a few worth considering. GTI kit and R32 kit are good OEM options. For aftermarket the only ones I'd touch would be Charactre, Reiger and ABT. All very aggressive but all of them suit the mk5 imo. Check out www.rimstyle.com for a wide range of alloys. Best place for a proper centre armrest is the dealers, you'd be waiting a long time to find one second hand. You can buy a leather interior and swap the whole lot, otherwise you're looking at a professional retrim. You can find a GT or GTI twin backbox second hand easily enough, just clean and shine the tips and you'll have the look. A remap from most tuning companies, R-tech, REVO, Awesome GTI, etc, will bring you from 140bhp to 170bhp.
Hope that helps.

Whoops!...my mistake over the 140bhp to 170bhp figures.........!  Thank you for putting me right!  Dealership told me that they would advise to leave the car to 140bhp rather than chip (remap) due to the economy being altered and in their view, the car had enough power needed..but again its choice and my choice!  Obviously the insurance company would have to be told (or not!) and premiums affected.  Is it worth it...me thinks no ...not so much now but thank you for your comments on the bhp.
I visited my local VW dealership and was told the VW polo's kit and VW Golf MK6 would fit my car.  I appreciate the aftermarket kits are recommended but not liking the agressive look.
Centre arm rest may be got from a written off golf (same year and model as my car) so I may contact the local breakers or ones on ebay that sell dismantling items.  If I got the arm rest is this a straightforward put on job?
In regard to bodykits what do you think of these options please?

Remap without the insurance being told is uninsured. Have an accident and you are liable personally now matter who's to blame...car written off...allon you.

Polo bodykit won't fit...dimensions. Te ones you listed are numbers?  What are they? Don't get anything that is glass reinforced plastic...aka fibreglass...shatters on impact so front end often damaged and in an accident offers little.

Thank you very much for the reply and information follow ups.

The numbers given on my previous reply are ebay item numbers (my apology for not stating this!).

I was told by a local VW dealership that the new 2010 polo bodykit would fit.  I was given a brochure (yesterday on calling in to discuss my requirements and issues over the remapping, alloys, etc).

I am phoning their body shop this morning so will check out the oem body kits they can supply, paint and fit to my car (will write once again when answers are given).

Regards
