abs light on
« on: 19 December 2004, 19:50 »
Hi dudes,

wondered if anyone can help, I have a 97 P reg 2.0L gti, and the abs warning light wont go off! now I know it could be the wheel sensors, they do look ok and intact, but is there anyway I can test them, like what readings should i get with a multimeter, or any other tests I can do to diagnose the problem, I have checked the obvious, the fuse!

Thanks in advance

oh btw.... MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I am pretty sure that the only way to find out what the problem is, is to hook it up to a diag machine which you can buy on ebay, not sure on prices will try and find out for you tho

Ok thanks Mr Wotto, is it ok to use the car in this state? or I might have to freeze and get my trusty old vespa out just to get to work on!!

If you live in london then pm me and we'll meet up [i have the software and the leads] .

You are going to be safer in the golf than a vespa if it freezes

nice one if you can get away with it, but i have found most garages that check for free expect to have the work that needs doing to be done at their garage.

Right i have decided to drive it, as its too cold for the vespa! I decided to look at all sensors, and on the rear offside, there was a stone trapped in between the disc and the back plate, now im thinking maybe the stone rattling around has damaged the sensor! but while driving, somtimes when braking, the pedel will grind like the abs is cutting in, and the light will be off, then it will go back on again! and thanks for the offer adyh, but i live in suffolk!
