Cylinder head disposal
« on: 13 June 2010, 14:34 »
I have the old cylinder head from my mk2. Seems like a daft question but what do I do with it? Do I take it to the tip or a scrapyard etc?

I would of thought a scrappy or local tip?

Might be able to flog it to be reconditioned aswell but dunno if it will be worth it.

To be fair if someone wanted it they could have it, providing they collected. The headgasket went so rather than messing around with skimming this head I bolted a refurbed one on.

Pull all of the steel bits out of it and take it to your local recycling centre for some cash if the centre's not far from you.

They're filled with sodium, pull valves, chop in half, chuck in bucket of water and wait for them to stop fizzing. they are then safe to dispose of either as scrap metal or land fill, but probs better to scrap metal them.

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.
