Hi everyone i hope you all get the things you want for Xmas,i have just bought my first vw golf, a H reg Mk2 gti 16v and i am already having a prob lol? ?i bought it with a supposed blocked heater matrix, and the thermostat had been removed as it was stuck in the closed position,the engine will get up to temp after about 30 min but no heat in the car, i have flushed the matrix and water seems to pass through both ways OK, i was stuck in traffic the other day and the temp went up and i had steam from under the bonnet and lost some fluid, when the engine is up to temp the radiator hoses are very hard unlike most cars i have had, would i be right in thinking that the head gasket has gone and is leaking into the water jacket making the hose hard and the engine to overheat or is the heater matrix block and giving me all the probs
