Cannot select MFD options menu

hi ive got a slight problem with my mfd i dont have the settings optioin screen nor do the right and left buttons on the right of the steering
any sugestions would be greatly apriciated allso i do have vcds vagcom

been to local dealers and they wouldnt entertain looking at my car, at first wouldnt talk to me but for me hangin about for an hour
they put it down to being a car they did not sell so not their problem so am verry peeved off 
any help would be grately welcomed

any main VW dealer should still look at any issues with a car, especially if it is still in the 3 year warranty (I presume it is)
it appears VW Customer Services UK would invite you to feedback any experiences you had with dealers... maybe you should give this a try?
